Market season has begun!
Our first market of the season was this past Thursday, on June 5th. The day began with a healthy dose of rain, which cleared up in the afternoon. The day turned sunny, breezy, and beautiful. We saw many faces, new and old!
Healthy Community South Hadley
New to the market this year is the Healthy Community table. Stop by and learn about healthy eating and healthy cooking. We have recipes for adults and kids, information about food assistance programs, and coloring activities. This past Thursday, Beth Ziemba from the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts was at the Healthy Community table with information about the SNAP program. We also had Brian Steinberg doing tarot readings — it was great fun!
What’s in season?
The first few weeks of the farmers’ market will highlight the best of spring vegetables. Snap peas, pea shoots, beets, radishes, turnips, lettuce, kales, Swiss chard, carrots, herbs, and more all make for a fresh, delicious, crunchy spring salad. Stop by Dave’s Natural Garden and Farmacy Gardens’ tables to pick up everything you need for tonight’s supper.
Curious what you’ll find at the market as the season continues? Stop by the Healthy Community table to pick up a Massachusetts harvest calendar.
Join the market’s email list!
The best way to stay on top of what’s happening at the farmers’ market is to join the e-mail list. We send a weekly update with information about products, vendors, activities, and entertainment. See you soon!
